International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM)
The Curaden iTOP (Individually Trained Oral Prophylaxis) Program is a globally recognized, evidence-based preventive education approach that focuses on personalized biofilm management and sustainable behavior change. Rather than one-size-fits-all oral hygiene instruction, iTOP teaches dental professionals and students how to tailor home-care techniques to each individual’s anatomy, risk factors, and abilities using a hands-on Touch-to-Teach method. The goal is to empower patients with the skills and confidence needed to maintain oral health long-term, making prevention the foundation of care. The IAOM supports dental hygiene programs by providing student-centered education that builds foundational awareness of myofunctional disorders without adding curriculum overload.
Services include: live or virtual guest lectures for faculty and students, curriculum support around observation, documentation, and referral language, and an Educate the Educator program in which a Certified Orofacial Myologist (COM) presents directly to students in class or via Zoom.
Programs and students are also introduced to the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), including its role in setting professional standards and the importance of certification as verified competency—similar to third-party testing models used in dental hygiene.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP:
The IAOM now offers a discounted student membership that includes access to on-demand educational videos for continued learning and discounted registration for the annual IAOM conference, giving students an ethical, structured way to explore myofunctional therapy beyond graduation.
